ΓÇó Pack out everything you pack in. Carry out all trash and food scraps. Do not feed wildlife.
ΓÇó Take plenty of drinking water and at least some food snacks.
ΓÇó Leave your trip itinerary with a friend or relative so you can be located in case of car trouble or other mishap. Start out with a full tank of gas.
ΓÇó Check with a ranger or other official for road and weather conditions. Exercise caution crossing all drainages and washes. Remember, unseen rain conditions upstream may still effect the drainage.
ΓÇó If hiking, be aware of flash flood potential, especially in narrow canyons. The slickrock country acts as a giant funnel and can direct large volumes of water into small drainages very quickly.
ΓÇó Leave the scenery as you find it. Do not write or carve on rocks; do not disturb plants or wildlife. Take only pictures; leave nothing behind.
